Parks and open space districts are designed to provide the community with developed
and undeveloped lands for recreational uses, to provide for and to protect open spaces,
and to maintain a desirable environment for the general health, welfare, and enjoyment
of the community. These areas are unique in their function and purpose, and the character
of individual areas will be determined by the nature of the activities provided on
the site. They are furthermore, intended to be widely distributed throughout the community
so as to be easily accessible.
